Dear OSRUI Friends,
We are proud to be sending to you the inaugural Olin-Sang-Ruby Union Institute (OSRUI) Impact Report. This report highlights OSRUI’s many accomplishments and the significant role it plays in the greater Jewish community.
In 1952, OSRUI was established as the first Reform Movement summer camp. It quickly grew in size and reputation, providing the best of camp experiences to youth of all ages and a year-round venue for Jewish learning and community engagement. Today, we are one of the largest Jewish camps in the country, welcoming over 1000 youth every summer and thousands of community members via retreats throughout the remainder of the year. In this report, we will share both concrete data and personal anecdotes that show the impact OSRUI has had on so many lives.
You will see in the report that 2018 was an especially momentous year, with nearly a record number of youth attending our unique summer programs. In addition, we broke ground and began constructing a new building, the Heichal HaTarbut Kaye (Kaye Cultural Center) that will allow the entire community to convene in song, prayer, and celebration in a single powerful space while also providing capacity for expanded programming. On a personal note, we both began our new roles as Camp Director and Board Chair, respectively; we are grateful for the opportunity to serve the camp and the trust we have been given to further the OSRUI mission.
Whether you are an OSRUI parent, alum, faculty member, donor, camper, community partner, or friend of camp, we hope that this Impact Report helps you fondly remember the impact OSRUI has had on you, your family, and our community. Please feel free to reach out to either of us with questions, and we welcome your suggestions for additional information that you would like to see in future Impact Reports.
Thank you for helping to make 2018 such a success. We remain excited about 2019 and beyond, and we hope you will continue to be a part of our future.
Solly Kane Steve Wolf
